Our History:
The Vashon Quilt Guild formed in 1981 and re-organized in 2007 as a not-for-profit organization.
Membership, which averages about 40 women, spans the decades from those in their eighties to member with young children.
The range of expertise is vast with some specializing in hand quilting, others in paper-piecing, machine embroidery, appliqué and art quilting.
Quilts produced range from traditional patterns to very artistic and modern creations. Sub-groups of machine quilters, handwork quilter and others meet monthly. In addition, there is a Guild Sew Day when sewists gather to work on their own projects and share techniques and expertise. It is open to non-members as well.
A broad spectrum of sewing machines is used by the quilters, from a treadle, to a hand crank, to one’s very first Singer, to the very newest computerized long arm machines.
Visitors and new members have always been at Quilt Guild meetings.
