Quilt Guild Meeting: October 21, 2025
19 members attended our October quilt guild meeting which was led by our president Kathy Pierce.
Old and New Business
Cheryl Belcher from Crazy Quilters of Federal Way brought in a beautiful king size quilt that they are raffling off. The proceeds go to various charities around the area. Members were given the opportunity to buy raffle tickets.
Sue informed us that she has 100 American Heroes quilts boxed up and ready to be shipped to Qatar.
Pat asked for help mending a 1930s quilt that has a few areas where the seams have pulled apart.
The Vashon Fire Department would like twelve 65” x 93” (extra long) twin size quilts. Georgia will ask about color preferences. A sign up sheet went around and 12 members volunteered.
Challenges and Learning Opportunities:
Kathy reminded us that we are starting off our new skills building challenge. Members are encouraged to bring any tools or tips they find useful for construction of half square triangles and/or flying geese to the November meeting. In December we will show our blocks and the next challenge block type will be introduced
The applique group held its first class at Sew Day last week. Anyone interested in learning applique skills is encouraged to attend next month’s Sew Day where there will be additional training.
Sew Day continues to be open to all members, regardless of whether they wish to applique. There is plenty of room for both classes and sewing on your own.
Our Program:
This meeting was our annual auction! Thank you to our members who brought in heaps of fabrics and books and patterns, and sewing paraphernalia! And a big thank you to Georgia, who was the auctioneer. Her enthusiasm always makes every event so much fun. This year we made $686!
Upcoming Meetings:
The machine quilters group meets the last Monday of the month. The next meeting isMonday, October 27th, at Margaret’s.
The Featherweight group meets the fourth Tuesday of the month. The next Featherweight meeting is Tuesday, October 28th, from 9 am-3 pm at Barb’s.
The applique group meets the first Tuesday of the month. The next applique group will meet on November 4th at Judy Dohm’s.
Our next Sew Day is November 11th which is the second Tuesday of the month.
Our November Quilt Guild meets on the third Tuesday of the month. Our next meeting is on November 18th. Please note: Our December quilt guild meeting is held on the second Tuesday of the month so it will be on December 9th.
